J Dilla Tribute - Part 1
Higher Learning on The First Word
“…the next thing I know, I’m getting a massage from Erykah Badu.”
James D. Yancey/ Jay Dee/ J Dilla
February 7, 1974 - February 10, 2006
From stonesthrow.com
“It is with great sorrow that the Family and Friends of J Dilla announces his spiritual transition on the morning of February 10th, 2006 in the loving arms of his mother, Maureen Yancey.
J Dilla had suffered for over three years with an incurable blood disease, and had also been diagnosed with lupus.”
The best ever.

Resfest Documentary
The Weekend Jumpoff at RESFEST 05!
”..all that love, and everything who you are.”
RESFEST is a festival that travels around the world showcasing short films, animation, commercials, and music videos. What you’ll see on the screen here is progressive and inspired thought at it’s best. RESFEST’s theme this year was Keep It Curious - an invitation to dig deeper into the world we’re living in.
Remember all those times you thought “wouldn’t it be cool if we did a movie on…”, well that’s what RESFEST is all about. Using the newest technologies, ideas are made vividly real, and stories are brought to life to mindblowing effect.
Over the 4 days from Oct. 27th - 30th, 2005 we experienced the work of some of the world’s finest creative minds. Lowsound was there for a giant lego chicken fight, an absurd Turkish Olympic event, political hilarity with Dick Cheney, and Rubber Johnny - a shape-shifting mutant child. Whoa.
Brilliant, innovative, and completely out of the ordinary - RESFEST celebrates creativity like no other festival in the world.
The next time you’re at the newstand, pull a copy of RES Magazine and see for yourself, and next year at RESFEST06, say what up to Lowsound!

Beats, Breaks, Culture - Music Festival Documentary
“…I think dj’s are way higher skilled here.”
The first official Weekend Jumpoff, and lowsound hit the Beats, Breaks, and Culture Festival at the Harbourfront Centre July 8 - 10, 05 in Toronto.
Summer in the city baby, and some excellent acts rolled through town. Platinum Pied Pipers from the D were here, Out Hud from NY, as well as the Quantic Soul Orchestra from the UK. The sun was out all weekend and fans of electronic music were treated to dj’s spinning live sets all day long and all night.
This is an event not to be missed next year!
